Acer’s Predator gaming product lineup now includes two 4K projectors: the GD711 and GM712. The first is a LED projector while the second is a brighter but less durable lamp projector. The GD711 boasts 1,450 ANSI lumens of brightness and supports HDR10. In 1080p mode, the refresh rate reaches 120Hz for consoles and 240Hz for PCs. In 4K resolution, the frequency is variable. Acer recommends a 100-inch diagonal projection from 2.5 meters away. The device is equipped with two HDMI 2.0 ports, one audio output and three USB-A ports. Acer has not shared a release date for North America, but the GD711 is expected to ship in China in November for CNY 12,000 and in December in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for EUR 1,500 (around CAD 2,150).

The GM712 is two and a half times brighter with 3,600 ANSI lumens, and a little more affordable at CNY 11,000 / EUR 1,400 (around CAD 2,000). Also, its lifespan is lower, with 5,000 hours in standard mode, compared to 20,000 hours for the GD711. Other features are similar, including variable refresh rate, HDR10, and support for up to 240Hz for PCs.

The Verge, Cameron Faulkner, “Acer’s Predator gaming projector is one of the first to support variable refresh rate.”
