Extra Life App for Opération Enfant Soleil

June 8, 2017.
Thanks to the generosity of its donors and partners, since its creation in 1988, Opération Enfant Soleil has been able to donate over 210 million dollars to various paediatric centres, organizations and associations involved in sick kids’ well-being.

Like all Quebecers, we at Spiria care about children, so we contacted Opération Enfant Soleil to ask them how we could help them with our know-how. After a brain-storming session, Opération Enfant Soleil asked us to develop a mobile application to support funding activities for their Extra Life program.

What is Extra Life?

Passeport Extra Life.

Extra Life is a fund-raising initiative for sick kids that was born on-line in 2008, when a community of gamers was deeply affected by the death of 15-year-old Victoria Enmon, a courageous young lady who had fought long and hard against acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

At first, Extra Life was an annual event for video game players who teamed up to compete in a 24-hour marathon. Since then, the concept has evolved, especially in Quebec, where the annual “gameathon” is complemented by other gaming events of all types spread out over the whole year. All of the funds raised thanks to Extra Life events in Quebec are turned over to Opération Enfant Soleil.

Passeport Extra Life Application

Passeport Extra Life. Passeport Extra Life. Passeport Extra Life.

Spiria is pleased to have developed the Passeport Extra Life application at no charge. The application allows potential event participants to have all event-related information right on their phone.

If you enjoy board games and video games, and are looking for fun events to join, either alone or with friends, you can find and join the perfect event on Passeport Extra Life, while contributing to Opération Enfant Soleil.

Just download the iPhone or Android version of the application. This first version will of course evolve and be enhanced with new features.

Besides the mobile application, Spiria also created a user-friendly interface for Opération Enfant Soleil to easily manage event-related information.

If you’d like to organize your own Extra Life event, just submit your idea to oes@operationenfantsoleil.ca stating the name, place and type of activity (board game, console, PC, public tournament, etc.) A representative from Opération Enfant Soleil will contact you to validate the information and advise you with your fund-raising.

Spiria’s designers and developers had lots of fun working on this application, which will be tremendously useful to volunteers and donors. We hope to continue collaborating with Opération Enfant Soleil for a long time yet to develop other technological products to improve the quality of life of sick kids.
