Samsung announced the T7 Shield portable SSD, which is a more rugged version of the excellent T7. IP65 certified, it’s water and dust resistant, which is a big plus for a device meant to travel around. A rubber coating keeps it from scuffs and scratches and helps protect it if it’s dropped. Samsung claims that the device can handle falls of up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) without getting damaged. The SSD has the same transfer speeds as the T7 and T7 Touch, with sequential read speeds of up to 1,050MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 1,000MB/s. It ships with a USB-C to USB-C cable as well as a USB-C to USB-A cable. The T7 Shield is now available in either 1TB or 2TB configurations for 144 and 261 USD respectively, and it comes in three colors: black, blue or beige.

The Verge, Cameron Faulkner, “Samsung’s T7 Shield is a more durable version of its portable USB-C SSD.”
