Microsoft has just added full support for visual themes to its Windows Terminal. It lets app users customize the appearance of tabs, the window, and even place background images in the interface. Microsoft also changed Terminal to always use a dark theme, rather than automatically go with the Windows system theme. But creating Windows Terminal themes is no easy task: you have to edit a JSON file, which gets tedious. However, Microsoft provides some sample JSON files to get you started, so you’re free to be as creative as you like and pick a layout that will wreck your eyesight. The app also comes with a new, more powerful rendering engine for text, supporting bold type, underline, and highlight.

The Verge, Tom Warren, “Windows Terminal now supports colorful themes to spruce up your dev environment.”
